Ili R. Spahiu joined the U.S. Small Business Administration, Massachusetts District Office on June 2015. He brings a wealth of knowledge from the private sector, having worked for various banks, credit unions and alternative lenders, most recently with RCAP Solutions, Inc. an SBA micro lending intermediary, where he was the Portfolio Manager, responsible for small business development since 2012. While at RCAP, he worked primarily with women, minority and immigrant-owned businesses, providing technical assistance and capital to startups and to businesses looking to grow. When he first joined the agency he was the point of contact for all Central and Western Massachusetts Lenders as well as the Economic Development Specialist for 50 Cities and Towns in Worcester County. In his new role, as the Lead Lender Relations Specialist, Ili provides program training and support to banks, and credit unions in the state, expanding existing relationships and developing new ones. Ili is also tasked with the Annual Reviews for the State’s Certified Development Companies, Annual Audits of the state’s Micro & Community Advantage intermediaries as well as other program compliance duties. Additionally, he performs the financial analysis on Certificate of Competency (COC) requests and is now the designated COC financial analyst for the District Office.
Ili started his professional career with Sovereign Bank, where he worked in both residential and commercial lending during his six year tenure. He worked for Digital Federal Credit Union, as a Financial Planner for three years followed by another three years of Investment Management experience with Transamerica Financial Advisors, as an Investment Advisor Representative. He earned his BA in Public Administration from Clark University and a Master of Science in Finance degree from Graduate School of Management at Clark University. Ili is an active member of his community. He founded the Albanian American Association “Kombi” in 2008 and the Albanian School of Worcester in 2010. Last year, he was the recipient of Worcester Business Journal “40 under Forty” award.
